Food is pretty much the only thing NOT included which allows you to plan your own meals together.
When we meet on the first day we will go to the supermarket and stock up on food before leaving the city. We usually all put $50 into a group food fund to buy ingredients to cook evening meals together and for basic items to share. This normally lasts about 12 to 14 days so works out around $4 a day!!!
This makes shopping cheap for everyone and helps to save space in the fridge. Everyone will need to sort out their own lunches and breakfasts but can use the basic shared items like milk, cheese, butter etc to save buying it just for themselves. We tend to stop at supermarkets every 4-6 days depending on the route.
You do! Everyone is encouraged to chip in and take it in turns to cook and clean up either in pairs or groups of 3. Whoever wants to cook can cook and those that don’t feel confident can just do the dishes. We’re all adults and travel as group of mates so share the responsibilities.
If you’re vegan or veggie we usually just cook the same meal on the side using substitutes and extra veggies. Its far more sociable and less chaotic if we all cook and eat together. If you are allergic to anything then make us all aware and we can shop accordingly.
The bus is set up with bunk beds so everyone can sleep inside in their own bed away from the dirt and creepy crawlies!
The bus is fully equipped with a flushing toilet, a hot shower as well as power and USB points for charging your phones, laptops and cameras.

If you can’t make the trip due to COVID related border/ travel restrictions we will give you a full refund minus any ‘payment gateway fee’. We recommend paying via direct bank transfer to avoid losing any fees/ charges. If we (Road 2 Adventure) have to cancel a trip before it leaves, we will refund your deposit and do our very best to connect you with other operators.
Normally the deposit is not refundable. If you change your mind or cannot make the trip, there is the non-refundable part of $500. If we (Road 2 Adventure) have to cancel a trip before it leaves, we will refund all of the money paid by the customer and do our very best to connect you with other operators.
Yes, there are just a few thiings we really recommend:
Head torch
Hiking shoes/trainers
Wet shoes/old trainers you don’t mind getting wet
Small backpack for day hikes
Large water bottler (at least 2litres)
We only require a $500 deposit to secure your spot. Our prefered payment method is via bank transfer because there are no extra fees/charges. Refunds are quick & easy in the event of COVID spoiling your plans.
You can also choose to pay the deposit via Credit Card or PayPal. The full amount is normally due on the first day of the trip and everyone puts $120 into a group food fund to buy ingredients.
There will be a maximum of 9 persons (including the driver) on each trip.
Most of our travelers are between 25 and 35 years old, though we welcome adventurous people of all ages. Expect a friendly, social, and like-minded group of people who are keen to explore and experience the journey together.
We need a minimum of 4 travelers for the trip to go ahead.
Yes, often people decide to join us for more than one trip. We usually have 4 to 7 days off between trips to prepare the bus for the next group. If you are booked on more than one trip in a row you will still need to find your own accomodation between trips.
During the booking process you will see and can select the pickup location(s) for your trip. Our main pickup locations are listed below.
Starting time is always 10 am.
Perth:
(Northbound Trips)Joondalup Lakeside Train Station
(South and Eastbound trips) Cockburn Gateway Station
Broome:
Beaches of Broome & Broome Visitor Centre
Darwin:
Outside the Wave Pool on the Darwin Waterfront
Adelaide:
Adelaide Central YHA
Nope, bedding is all included.
There’s no luggage restrictions within reason. We encourage people to bring things like surfboards and guitars however we will draw the line when you try to bring a couch or kitchen sink! A large backpack or suitcase and a smaller day bag is quite normal.
We do not have any laundry facilities on the bus and so we recommend bringing enough underwear and clothing to last about 14 days. On our 19 day trips between Perth, Broome and Adelaide we will stop at a public laundromat about halfway through the trip for you to do your own laundry if you need to
This depends on which town/ city you are finishing your trip. We usually decide once we know where everyone is staying and try to find a conventient central point for everyone to go there separate ways. In small places like Broome we can usually get you pretty close to your accomodation.
It depends on which Trip in which city your jumping off our Road Trip. Below are often used drop out Spot’s listed.
Perth: Cockburn Gateway Shopping Centre
Broome: Cable Beach Backpackers or Kimberly Klub YHA
Darwin: Wave Pool on the Darwin Waterfront
Adelaide: Adelaide Central YHA
